LED 5001 Video Light for GH2

I just got this new LED video light for my Panasonic GH2. When indoors I noticed I might need some additional lighting, so I purchased this LED-5001 Dimmable LED Video Light from Amazon. There are four LED bulbs inside and the specs state it can run at full power for 2 hours with the rechargeable battery. I haven’t tested the light for that many hours, but I’m very happy with all the features so far.

Quick specs:

  • It comes with a removable light frame which hasĀ a white filter to soften the light (diffuse effect), one warm filter to reduce the color temperature, and two pieces of light covers (barn doors).
  • The light intensity can be changed with a dimmer
  • You can fix the light frame onto the video light by adjusting the light frame locking knob
  • Multi-color temperature selection
  • Compatible with four different kinds of battery (Sony NP-F550, NP-F750, NP-F960 and NP-F970)
  • Power switch to turn on/off the light and dimmer knob for brightness adjustment
  • Comes with AC wall charger and a 7.2V 2000mAh rechrgeable Li-ion for Sony NP-F550 battery

It looks heavier than it really is, but it’s pretty light weight. It comes with a rechargeable battery and I can dim the light when the full brightness isn’t required.

  1. How does it compare to an actual Comer light? The Comers are popular to some wedding videographers, I’m considering this light after your review. Thanks.

    • Gerald, I’m not too sure how it stands up to the Comer light. I’ll ask a few of the guys at my studio if they have one of these and get a video comparison up for you!
